About Zana

I'm Zana, the owner and therapist behind Zana's Massage Therapy in Carmarthen. I never actually planned to become a massage therapist. It all started when my son went through a huge growth spurt and needed regular physiotherapy. Getting one-to-one appointments wasn't always easy, and it was suggested that massage might help. So I enrolled on a sports therapy course, initially just to help him. My family thought it wouldn't last, especially as I'd never been particularly interested in massage! But I absolutely loved it. What started as a way of helping my son turned into something much bigger. I discovered how rewarding it was to help people manage tension, feel more comfortable and take some time for themselves. Today, I'm still learning, developing my skills and enjoying the fact that I get to do something I genuinely love.

About Zana's Massage Therapy

Zana's Massage Therapy is my independent massage and wellbeing business, based primarily in Carmarthen, with additional appointments in Llanelli. I offer a range of treatments including personalised massage, reflexology, pregnancy and postnatal treatments, lymphatic drainage and specialist scar therapy. My approach is simple. I don't believe everyone needs the same treatment, so I take the time to understand what each client is looking for and adapt my work accordingly. As a RESTORE Scar Specialist, I'm particularly interested in developing the more specialist side of my work, including scar therapy and post-operative support. I'm also developing Motherhood Journey packages to support women through pregnancy and after birth, alongside a Corporate Wellbeing offering aimed at smaller local businesses that don't always have access to employee wellbeing schemes.

About Zana's team

It's just me! From carrying out treatments and looking after clients to managing bookings, answering messages, marketing and running the business, I do it all myself. It can be a lot to juggle, but it also means my clients deal directly with me from their first enquiry through to their treatment. Building those relationships and seeing people return is one of the parts of running my own business that I enjoy most.

The journey

Zana's Massage Therapy started as what I used to call my hobby job. At the time, I was working 40 hours a week in full-time employment and spending another 25 hours or more building my massage business around it. On 1 January 2025, I finally took the leap and made Zana's my full-time business. But things didn't quite go to plan. At the beginning of 2026, I accepted another full-time role and made the difficult decision to close Zana's Massage Therapy. It didn't take me long to realise I'd made the wrong decision. By May 2026, I'd reopened, but I genuinely didn't know whether my previous clients would come back or whether people would trust me to stay this time. I had to rebuild, and in many ways it felt like starting from scratch. What surprised me was just how much support I received. Previous clients returned, new people found me, and gradually the diary started filling again. In the first four months after reopening, I completed 219 appointments, welcomed 74 new clients and achieved 80.4% occupancy. It hasn't always been easy, but reopening has reminded me why I started the business in the first place. I'm now building it again, with more experience, clearer plans and a determination to keep moving forward.

Why your vote matters

Reopening my business this year was a big decision, and I had no idea whether it would work out. Being nominated for these awards is already something I'm incredibly grateful for. A vote would mean a lot because it would be recognition not just for the treatments I offer, but for the hard work involved in rebuilding my business and the relationships I've built with my clients. I'm a small independent business, and every person who chooses to book with me makes a difference. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, whether that's through booking a treatment, leaving a review, recommending me or simply encouraging me along the way.
